Typing Test
Type as fast and accurately as possible.
A Modern Take on the Classic Typing Test
10fastfingers has been the go-to benchmark for typists since 2011. Its formula is deceptively simple: a stream of common words, a timer, and a WPM score at the end. After fifteen years, it still works.
This version keeps that core — 100 of the most common English words, shuffled and streamed, scored in WPM over a 60-second session. But we've iterated on a few friction points.
Per-character feedback. As you type each word, individual characters light up in real time — correct ones settle into place, wrong ones flash red immediately. You don't have to wait until you press space to know something's off.
Editable history. Made a typo two words ago? Backspace past the word boundary to step back and fix it. Your accuracy score adjusts automatically, reflecting what you actually typed rather than penalising you for a slip you corrected.
Two-row focus window. Only two rows of words are visible at once. Completed words scroll away, keeping your attention on what's ahead rather than what's already done.
